EAT: Exploring Amazing Tastes
We’re going to explore amazing flavors!
Here you’ll learn to make all the exciting dishes you dream of. We’ll be visited by:
- Arne Brimi, who will host a food workshop with us.
- Truls and Hellstrøm, who serve as judges in our very own “Kokkeskolen” competition. Maybe you’ll earn a star pin?
- August and Martin (from TikTok), who will teach you how to make quick and delicious student meals, and hold a course on content production for social media.
There’s room for everyone here – regardless of level
Beginner or experienced?
It doesn’t matter! No special skills are required here. If you love food, this is the place for you.
You’ll get to learn from the very best. Do you know how to make authentic homemade Butter Chicken, Gyros, Pad Thai, Sushi, and Dumplings? Or how to prepare a delicious 5-course dinner where the entrecôte is perfectly cooked and the sauce leaves guests begging for more? How about delicious desserts like Panna Cotta, Chocolate Parfait, or Crème Brûlée? Not to mention the juiciest pastries. Vanilla knots, cinnamon rolls, donuts, custard buns, and cardamom buns… yummm…
Lower your shoulders
Too many students live on sad meals of instant soup and noodles because they lack the ideas and knowledge to make the food they actually want, or they’re afraid of making mistakes. At EAT, you can relax and learn methods and techniques to make all kinds of dishes:
- Sushi
- Middle Eastern
- Mexican
- Thai
- Chinese
- Indian
- Italian
- Traditional Norwegian food
The goal is for you to gain enough control to start playing with and mixing techniques, so you can come up with your own dishes.
You’ll just see what’s in the fridge and the ideas will come, without you having to overthink it.
The Cooking School on TV2
The major is inspired by the TV show “Kokkeskolen med Truls og Hellstrøm,” which was filmed at Hurdal Verk.
Truls and Hellstrøm look forward to tasting the food you’ve made when they serve as judges in our own “Kokkeskolen” competition.
Social Media, Photo, and Video
Want to learn how to make food videos for social media and start your own channel? Look forward to a course with August and Martin from TikTok.

These guys have worked their way up from being self-taught cooks to becoming Norway’s biggest food bloggers on TikTok with nearly 400,000 followers. You’ll learn how to film, edit, and create exciting videos, and maybe even start your own food channel on TikTok? Additionally, you’ll get an introduction to photography and lighting, specifically aimed at food.
Who is this major for?
The major suits everyone from beginners to those with experience. The most important thing is that you love food and want to learn more.

A year at EAT is an investment in the future, because these are skills you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life.
Being able to cook is one of the most important skills you need to have a good life. This year, you’ll learn to make everything from quick and cheap meals with few ingredients to advanced Michelin-style food that you can impress your friends with.
Food is about community
Japan
Japan is one of the world’s most exciting countries for food lovers, and it’s easy to find high-quality food, both on the street and in the countless restaurants.
You’ll get to taste first-class Sushi, Ramen, Kobe beef, Okonomiyaki, and other Japanese specialties.
You’ll get to know the incredibly friendly Japanese culture and the top-quality food found everywhere you buy a meal.
- Sushi course
- Sumo wrestling show
- Shinkansen (the world’s fastest train)
- Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto
- Food markets
- Onsen – Hot springs
We experience the high-tech and futuristic side of the country, with the latest in electronics, technology, and shopping, and the contrasts with historical sites and villages.
Outdoor Cooking
Have you noticed that food tastes extra good when you’re out on a trip?
We visit Arne Brimi at Vianvang to learn from the very best in outdoor cooking. He also visits the school to hold a cooking course for us.
You’ll also get to join low-threshold trips in the forest and mountains where we make food over the campfire. How about impressing your friends with campfire-grilled salmon with honey-soy sauce, chicken kebabs with satay sauce, or apple pie on the fire? There will be local trips in Hurdal and cabin trips in the mountains where the focus is on comfort, fun, community, and great food.

Facilities

Our classroom was brand new in 2024.
In January 2024, we built a brand new school kitchen at our school with the most modern cooking equipment. The room is bright and pleasant with large windows. We have also built a lovely dining room where we foster community and enjoy the delicious food we make together. The first EAT class started in August 2024 with a full roster and has been a huge success.
