Adapted Program

A year at Hurdal Verk is a year of personal growth and maturity.
Integration into Regular Programs
We can facilitate arrangements for those with somewhat reduced functional abilities due to, for example, Asperger’s syndrome, high-functioning autism, or concentration difficulties. You will be integrated into a regular program.
PLEASE NOTE: This supported program is only available to Norwegian citizens residing in Norway.
In the Adapted Program, you become a student on our regular programs and follow the same schedule as all other students, with individual adaptations. The program is particularly well-suited for students who tend to “fall between two stools”, where they are too strong for a residential training program, but at the same time need support in daily life, and training in basic ADL.
You will receive your own learning plan with goals for the year, and close follow-up from your own contact person who provides guidance and support when you need it.

Finances
Attending the Adapted Program incurs extra costs, and to secure a place, it is a prerequisite that these costs are covered by NAV (the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration) or your home municipality. This covers the costs of the extra follow-up you receive from your contact person. We can assist with the application to NAV.
Start by sending us a regular application. On the application form, select “Adapted Program” as your first choice, for both Program 1 and Program 2. For your second and third choices, select the two programs you wish to be affiliated with.
It is important that you specify what extra follow-up and guidance you believe you will need during your folk high school year. If we have available places and, based on your application, we assess that it may be possible to offer you a place, we will invite you for an interview at the school, together with your guardians. Here, we will get to know you better, map your needs for adaptation, and show you our school.
If we can offer you a school place, we will work with you to apply to NAV or the municipality for funding.
NB: We have limited places in the Adapted Program, so it is advisable to apply early.
A year at Hurdal Verk is a year of personal growth and maturity. An opportunity to build networks and develop social skills in a safe environment.
If you or your guardians have questions about how the adapted program works with us, please do not hesitate to contact the principal, Frode Mikal Nilssen, by email: fnilssen@hvf.no, or mobile: 450 37 465.
