Are you a Christian looking for a folk high school that takes your faith seriously? Then you’ve come to the right place.
We create opportunities for you to find a strong Christian community with us, and to grow in your faith. We have Sunday gatherings every Sunday with inspiring preaching, and worship with a band and prayer ministry. Thursday gatherings where students share their faith stories. You can join the boys’ group “The Warriors” and the girls’ group “The Sisters“, Bible study/discussion groups, and you’ll have the opportunity to be equipped and challenged in your faith with us.
The skilled teachers see us for who we are and create space for everyone to be themselves. The openness about faith makes it safe to explore your beliefs, and makes people who might be a bit skeptical become open and curious. This has given me so many meaningful conversations and strong relationships unlike any I’ve had before. I think both the teachers and staff this year have been really good at building relationships, which I’ve experienced as crucial for the positive environment we’ve had this year. (student 25-26)
We are a school with both Christian and non-Christian students. This means that you as a Christian can make a difference for curious and seeking fellow students. We believe that a safe Christian community combined with fellowship with non-believers is the best way to develop as a Christian.
Our Sunday gatherings usually have between 40-80 participants. Many have their first encounter with Christian faith through our gatherings, and through Christian fellow students. As a Christian, you can both find a safe community with other Christians, where you can grow in your faith, and also make a difference for fellow students who are open to faith. At Hurdal Verk, an atmosphere of trust is created that makes non-Christians want to be part of the Christian community too. Many people fall in love with the worship, the mood and atmosphere, and come to the gatherings. Gradually, more people come to both prayer ministry and communion, and join discussion groups/Bible studies and “The Sisters”/”The Warriors”.

- Make a difference for fellow students who are open and seeking. There are many more than you might think, and it has to do with the fact that the topic is brought up by us on staff, and that an atmosphere is created where it’s safe to talk about what you believe in.
NB: Remember that at this school you choose 2 SUBJECTS. This provides greater variety in your daily life and the opportunity to customize your year according to your interests.
